DiolazeXL is a revolutionary hair removal laser that is the first of its kind to use a high-speed diode, which delivers unparalleled power and high-speed pulsing to the tissue. With built-in safeguards, its special cooling feature provides a combination of speed, safety, and large spot size that results in a comfortable hair removal process for patients.
You begin by having a one-on-one consultation with New York City plastic surgeon Dr. B. Aviva Preminger. She will review your medical history to ensure you are a candidate for DiolazeXL hair removal. She will determine the safest setting for your skin type before cleaning the area that will be treated. A special gel is applied to your skin, and then Dr. Preminger expertly treats your unwanted hair using the DiolazeXL laser.
You will feel comfortable throughout your procedure, as the DiolazeXL laser has a built-in cooling device to keep your skin cool while the laser penetrates through your layers of skin, reaching the base of the hair follicles. Patients often describe a tingling feeling that they sense while the laser is working.
At the conclusion of your appointment, the gel is removed and Dr. Preminger will apply a calming cream to your skin. Sunscreen may also be applied before you leave, to protect your skin from UV rays that may result in increased sensitivity.
Immediately following your procedure, it is common to experience minor redness and swelling in the area that was treated, although these symptoms should subside within a few hours to a couple of days. Dr. Preminger recommends applying a cool compress to your skin to soothe any discomfort.
Avoid shaving, plucking, waxing or using electrolysis in the areas you wish to have treated for at least 6 weeks before your appointment. We advise you to avoid tanning at least 4 weeks prior and discontinue the use of self-tanners approximately 2 weeks before your appointment.
Be sure to have sunscreen on hand too. You will need to apply sunscreen over the areas treated throughout your sessions, and for at least 6 weeks following your last session. The sunscreen that you choose should have an SPF 50.
Results will vary, but most patients report a 50-90% permanent hair reduction. However, maintenance sessions may be necessary in some cases.
Results are within your reach and are more convenient than ever to achieve thanks to advances in non-invasive procedures. To learn more about DiolazeXL, call the office of Preminger Plastic Surgery today at (212) 706-1900 to schedule your initial consultation.
