January is a busy month for board-certified plastic surgeons. Part of the holiday boom can be attributed to New Year’s resolutions and the “New Year, New You” aspirations that naturally arise with a fresh start to the year. Facial rejuvenation treatments like Botox or dermal fillers are also popular Christmas stocking stuffers, so people are eager to get in right away to use them.
Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. B. Aviva Preminger offers a variety of cosmetic solutions to help patients put their best face forward in 2017. Here are a few to consider:
Refresh your skin
Injectable fillers are a quick, easy way to restore a youthful appearance to the face. Botox or Dysport can give you a brow lift without surgery. Lasers can be used to diminish bruising if necessary. Restylane is a popular filler for the mid-face and cheek area. Juvederm, Restylane or Radiesse can be used to diminish deep lines along the sides of the mouth.
Chemical peels and facials are often recommended for dull, lifeless skin. These spa-like procedures can prompt the body to heal the effects of aging with little to no downtime. Everyone wants a fresh radiance to the skin. Going one step further, celebrities like Bar Rafaeli and Kim Kardashian have recently undergone “The Vampire Facial,” a series of platelet-rich plasma injections that prompt the body to produce an abundance of collagen.
Boost your body
Now is the perfect time to start addressing love handles, saddlebag thighs, and stubborn stomach flab. Laser energy heats up and destroys fat cells, which are processed and eliminated from the body as any other toxin. Body contouring can be done in multiple weekly sessions lasting just 25 minutes at a time, with several inches of fat melting off between six and twelve weeks. Skin-tightening and cellulite treatments can be done to alleviate rippling, dimpling skin as well.
Lose the double chin
Several years ago, liposuction and facelifts were the only ways to get rid of a double chin. Today, you can receive an FDA-approved Kybella injection made from deoxycholic acid, a chemical produced in the body that aids with fat absorption. The average treatment takes 15-30 minutes, with noticeable results within two to six months. There is no bruising or downtime – and the effects are dramatic, which has led some to call Kybella “a miracle fix.” The ideal candidate is a younger patient who has elastic skin and doesn’t smoke.
