The quest for the perfect body and face has fueled skyrocketing rates of cosmetic surgery in the U.S. From 2000 to 2015, there was an incredible 115 percent increase in plastic surgeries. Another possibility is the focus on beauty and selfies in social media. The Brazilian butt lift is particularly beneficial for patients who want a more voluptuous derriere because it improves the contour and overall appearance of the backside, while increasing size.

The Brazilian butt lift involves performing liposuction on another area of the patient’s body, such as the abdomen or hips. Then, the fat is processed and injected into key areas of the buttocks to lift and shape the area. This method of butt augmentation is particularly advantageous for individuals who wish to address trouble spots such as love handles or stubborn bulges of fat in the abdomen that have not responded well to diet or exercise.

Silicone butt implants

While the Brazilian butt lift is widely considered to be the butt augmentation procedure of choice, more adventurous patients have also been trying buttock implants. In 2000, so few of these procedures were performed that the American Society of Plastic Surgeons did not even bother to track them. By 2014; however, 1,863 individuals in the U.S. had received the silicone butt implants. In 2015, that number had increased to 2,540.

As the term suggests, silicone butt implants use the same concept as silicone breast implants. Some cosmetic surgeons advocate for intramuscular placement of the silicone implants. This means that the muscles of the derriere will hold the implants firmly in place, which prevents unsightly sagging and reduces the risk of implant ruptures. And since the implant is covered by muscles, this gives a highly natural-looking result.
