Many women who suffer from unwanted back rolls may not realize that a simple procedure can reduce the fat in the upper back and greatly improve the look of the bra line. Body sculpting procedures can lead to a trimmer silhouette and improved confidence.
A bra line roll can emerge at any age but aging exacerbates it. The roll keeps many women from enjoying form-fitting clothing that will reveal the extra skin. Reducing a bra bulge enhances the overall body shape, bringing many women a renewed self-assurance.
Where does the bra roll come from?
Many people wonder why they have developed a bra line roll. It is mainly a matter of anatomy plus physical wear. To move the arms fully, the skin in the area of the shoulder blades stretches and over time it enlarges a bit. At the same time, the skin below it along the ribs remains fixed in place. Where the two areas meet, a fold of skin can emerge. Loose skin and extra fat can lap over that fold of skin on their own but a bra strap worsens the appearance by giving the area a straight, smooth band to drape over.
Treating an upper back roll
There are a few options to solve an unsightly bra roll but it responds best to a combination treatment. Liposuction is useful but it is really most effective in combination with procedures that break down the fat tissue so that the skin can be stretched and smoothed.
There are several options for breaking down the fibers around the fat in the back. Power-assisted suction lipectomy uses a mechanical rotating device while HydraSolve uses a pulsing effect with heat and water. For someone with greater fat deposits in the area, liposuction may play a greater role but that alone will not break down the tissues enough to allow the skin to be re-positioned back into a flattering contour.
When the procedure is performed on a woman, the incisions can be placed in the area covered by a bra. Many women are pleased with the way this hides the surgical marks.
Bra bulge reduction
Like any surgical procedure, there are some risks involved. The most common include bruising and discomfort. Other risks include infection, anesthesia complications, and nerve damage. Before any type of body contouring plastic surgery, it’s important to have a thorough discussion with your doctor about potential complications and recovery time.
