However, no amount of exercise or dieting can precisely sculpt a person’s natural buttocks so that they are a different shape. The Brazilian butt lift may involve autologous fat transfers, implants, or a combination approach to increase the fullness and roundness of the derriere and to enhance its projection. Some people decide to have this type of surgery in order to improve their self-esteem and boost their level of self-confidence.

What to know about plastic surgery

Before making the decision to undergo a Brazilian butt lift, it’s important that patients have a clear understanding of exactly what the surgery entails. A Brazilian butt lift is performed on an outpatient basis and it typically takes two to four hours. It may be performed under general anesthesia or twilight sedation. As with any medical procedure, there are certain risks involved, such as the risk of adverse reactions to anesthesia, bleeding, and infections.

After having the surgery, patients are back at work within five to seven days and they can generally resume light activities in two to three weeks. However, it’s important that patients avoid sitting directly on the buttocks for 14 days. It may take up to six weeks for the swelling to fully resolve and the healing process to be complete. At this point, patients can resume strenuous activities. The results of a Brazilian butt lift are generally permanent, although some changes can occur due to weight gain or loss.
